BIBCO Annual Report
July 2004 – June 2005
At the University of Florida, catalogers have been very busy learning the ends and outs of the new Library Management System (ALEPH) and OCLC's new cataloging micro-enhancer Connexion. As a sidebar to learning ALEPH and because authority work is at the core of BIBCO, I feel compelled to mention the problems we're having implementing authority control in ALEPH.
Our overall contributions decreased again this fiscal year from fy04 1,298 to fy05 1,042 (a 20% decrease). We submitted 718 FULL, a decrease from fy04 983 to fy05 718 (a 27% decrease) and 324 CORE, a slight increase from fy04 315 to fy05 324 (a 2.9% increase). Our monthly average for FULL and CORE level records combined dropped from fy04 118 to fy05 108. Despite the problems that may or may not have affected the cataloger's decision to catalog an item BIBCO or not due to changes our statistics indicate a continuation to push forward to maintain a strong commitment at the University of Florida for participating in the BIBCO Program.
