Cataloger Instructions for
Suppressing BIBs with Linked Orders
BIBs with closed orders
Add STA SUPPRESSED to the BIB and any attached holdings
Add a 599 note pointing to the new BIB (e.g., cataloged on 2857097)
The order may remain linked to the suppressed BIB. However, if there is an item attached to the suppressed BIB and it needs to be moved to the new BIB, Aleph requires you to move the order along with the item. To do so, display both the suppressed BIB and the new BIB in the Nav Map, then carefully drag/drop the item and order to the new BIB.
BIBs with open orders
Add STA SUPPRESSED to the BIB and any attached holdings
Add a 599 note pointing to the new BIB (e.g., cataloged on 2857097)
Notify Acquisitions to move the order to the new BIB
How do you know if the order is closed or open?
Add the title to the Nav Map, click on Orders in the Nav Map tree. If the Order status is CLS (Closed), VC (Vendor Cancelled), or LC (Library Cancelled), treat the order as closed. If the Order status is not CLS, VC, or LC, treat the order as open.
