Microform Cataloging Guideline:
Multiple Titles on Reel

Microfilm reels may contain multiple titles.  This often occurs when microfilm titles are ordered to replace brittle books. We handle each title according to the Microform Cataloging Guideline: Only Copy and Microform Cataloging Guideline: Add Copy with the following exceptions:

Searching
If no copy is available in OCLC, also search RLIN.

Holdings Screen
Use class code Y and a UF assigned reel/position accession number in place of a classification number.  [When originally cataloging multiple titles on reels, don’t use contents notes or filmed with notes to show each title’s place on the reel as the position number reflects this.]  Check with Nelda in Preservation for an accession number to assign.
