Beginning March 29, 2004
GUIDELINE FOR STAFF OUTSIDE RESOURCE SERVICES
LUIS will be frozen beginning March 29, 2004. No changes made in bibliographic, holdings, and item records in LUIS after the Freeze starts will migrate to ALEPH on STP May 3. In order to assist Resource Services with managing materials during the Freeze:
- DO NOT CREATE PROVISIONAL RECORDS IN LUIS.
Exception: Provisionals may be created as necessary for circulating instructor-owned materials for course reserves this semester.
- DO NOT EDIT ANY BIB, HOLDINGS, OR ITEM RECORDS IN LUIS.
- DO NOT UPDATE HOLDINGS IN OCLC OR EXPORT RECORDS TO LUIS.
- DO NOT SEND ANY MATERIALS TO RESOURCE SERVICES FOR CATALOGING, RECATALOGING, OR RELABELLING. HOLD TO SEND POST-STP.
- DO NOT SEND ANY MATERIALS TO THE RESOURCE SERVICES DATABASE MAINTENANCE UNIT FOR CORRECTIONS, RECLASSIFICATION, WITHDRAWAL OR TRANSFER. HOLD TO SEND POST-STP.
Remember: Corrections and revisions made to bibs, items, and holdings during the Freeze will not migrate to Aleph.
Owning locations will continue to receive a limited amount of material cataloged in LUIS by Resource Services during the Freeze.
Serials check-in will continue during the Freeze. The Serials A Team is developing procedures for transferring the data to Aleph.
After STP, the LUIS database will be available in README form only until all SUS Libraries have implemented ALEPH.
