INTRODUCTION

This list provides online connections to databases most often used for visuals arts, environmental design, and construction research.  Most of these databases cite articles in periodicals although some are broader in scope.  The online ArtLexEncyclopedia BritannicaR.S. Means Building Glossary, and the extensive Dictionary of Art are examples of dictionaries in database format.  Both of these sources provide internet links, bibliographies, and other information besides the dictionary entries.
