*** Gary Cornwell and Lori Driscoll attended as guests to present plans for
current periodicals when Library West collection is to be moved:
- Two page outline / information sheets were handed out along with one
page floor plan.
- Two teams from staff have been planned teo do pulling, dusting, moving,
etc.
- Work will begin Dec.18 when library closes at end of semester and will
continue through the weekend. The whole move will be done at this time, in one
shot. Estimation of 5-6 days to complete.
- Staff will work overtime and get paid time and a half.
- Lori stated that there may be a need for more assistance and any volunteers
for this would be appreciated.
- Preparation such as marking floors and shelves will be done before
move begins.
- About four fewer ranges will be in Library East area than are currently
available in Library West./li>
- 101 discontinued print Kluwer titles will be pulled and bound as soon
as possible (when final issues arrive). This will help create some space.
- There will be many fewer empty bins left open for growth as consolidation
of space is necessary.
- Security gates will be installed at the south end of the hallway before
the restrooms.
Workflow:
- Processed periodicals will be delivered by Serials Acquisitions to
Jo Talbird every day, put on two shelves, stacked flat just as they are currently
done.
- Access services students will separate LC and Dewey periodicals and
count them.
- Duplicates currently kept by Access Services will now be housed with
Serials Acquisition unit in dual filing cabinets.
- Procedures for Preservation’s security duplicates will remain
the same.
- A list sorted alphabetically from Binding might help Serials Acquisitions
weed the duplicates file on a regular basis.
