Connecting from Off-Campus

Most library databases and e-journals are licensed from service providers who restrict access to authorized users (i.e. current UF students, staff, and faculty)  by detecting the IP address of any computer attempting to connect. On-campus computers are allowed access automatically, but you must connect through UF in one of the following ways if you are off campus. Depending on the connection method, you must have an activated 14-digit library number or a GatorLink username/password.

Connection Method
Key Points
UF Libraries' Proxy    (EZproxy)

  • Easy to connect without first downloading software: just enter either your GatorLink username/password or your activated 14-digit library number on a Web page to connect through a special UF computer.
  • You must follow the navigation instructions in order to remain logged on to your session.
  • Should work with any Internet Service Provider and Web browser.
  • Will NOT work if connecting to library resources through WebCT.
  • The Library Proxy should work with all databases when remote access is allowed by the provider. .
UF VPN
