Worlds We've Rocked

Saturday, January 29 we were at one with the hottest band
in the land, KISS , when we joined
Tallahassee's finest, Syrup, and locals Spike the Cat ,
for a night that was guaranteed to be hotter than hell! Yes,
"Moon Magazine presents: KISS Alive!!"
All you people got rock-n-rolled out there! Whoa yeah-yuh!

Thursday, January 13 we rocked the house at Eddie C's Pub with the fabulous cowpunk sounds of The Bodrees and again with our old pals, The Breaks !

Monday, December 13 at Durty Nellys we tore it up with John McGuigan's punk rock outfit, The Breaks!

Friday, December 10 we played the Grand Opening of the new downtown location of Spin Cycle! The celebration rocked with a BMX Stunt Demo followed by food, drink & bands!

Thursday, December 2 we rocked Eddie C's Pub with the Guido Incident!

ALLSTAR 69 played another rocking set on Aug. 23 at another fine Nelly's Pub outting with Pop Canon!

ALLSTAR 69 was armed & ready to fire on Sat. July 31 at Rumors Tavern! The opening act, Full Rebel Jacket, hailing all the way from mighty Hotlanta, got the fire started with their heartfelt southern lyrics and stompin' redneck rhythms. ALLSTAR 69 carried the torch and kept the fabulous Rumors Tavern hotter than hell, blazing through a thunderously long set of glampunk-rock-n-roll, as only we can do!
Thank-you, Gainesville!

Sat. July 24 at the Covered Dish, ALLSTAR 69 capped off a long summer's evening of punk rock with a fairly decent show - marred only by a few pyrotechnic glitches, a broken kick drum pedal and several broken strings. And though the crowd was sparse, they were righteously loyal - much thanks to those who hung in there.

ALLSTAR 69 hit the midway point of our "Live at the Dives" Tour'99 with yet another high velocity set with our 'punk & protest' pals, Sick Dick & the Volkswagens, at Eddie C's Pub on July 22!

ALLSTAR 69 got their Irish up & rockin' on Monday, July 19 at Durty Nelly's. Good crowd, good beer, good show!! Look for our return to Gainesville's only Irish pub in late August.

Saturday, July 17 - ALLSTAR 69 annihilated the Inside Stage at Kate's Fish Camp giving a righteous start to the 5th Annual Prairie Creek Jam. It was smokin'! Much thanks to Moe for his hard work in putting on the fest.

Sat. June 26 at Rumors Tavern, ALLSTAR 69 shared the stage with the Libido Brothers & a very special guest STAR - Ancient Chinese SecretStar - all the way from New York City! Naturally, she joined us on a couple of numbers and even helped on lights! Red hot pictures, soon to come...

Thursday, June 10 at Eddie C's we got it on again with Sick Dick & the Volkswagens. Yeah, they were supposed to be defunct by now, but... the show got rather raucous at the end with chairs thrown on stage, broken beer bottles and a fanatic known as "Psychostar" breaking a pool cue over some chick's knee!! Whoo hoo!

ALLSTAR 69 teamed up once again with the inimitable
Sick Dick & the Volkswagons
for their "reunion show" on Friday, May 21, at - believe it or not - Rumors Tavern. Yeah, ok...it's a dive nobody has heard of, but where else is there to play anyhow? People came out & raised some hell! The one & only Ivan Osorio returned to Gainesville for Sick Dick's reunion show! Despite a host of PA problems, this show was way fun, way rock and well attended! Thanks!

The dynamic duo strikes again!
ALLSTAR 69 & Sick Dick & the VW's brought down the house once again at Eddie C's on Thursday, April 29! Good show, lots of rock. Well worth the effort made by fans to make it up the street and party at Eddie C's!

ALLSTAR 69, GRAIN and the Lexingtons slopped it up at the DownLo for a night of serious drinking - on
St. Patrick's Day, Wednesday, March 17!!
Oh... and we all did some serious rockin', too!

For those of you heavily into power rock, you're lucky you caught ALLSTAR 69 on Thursday, March 11 - at Eddie C's with recently reformed punkmeisters,
Sick Dick & the Volkswagons!
It was "The Battle of the Garage Bands Night"!

Looks like ALLSTAR 69 helped to bring down the Covered Dish on Thursday, March 4 when we joined our kissin' cousins, Syrup, and Texas band, Honky, featuring Jeff Pinkus of Butthole Surfer fame. We got down & dirty!

ALLSTAR 69 played one for the locals on Feb.12 at Munegins on 13th. Special thanks to the hardcore fans that found their way to the bar and stuck it out through our sets!

ALLSTAR 69 rocked the 'hood on December 19, 1998, when they played on the outside patio at Foye's house. Two kegs of beer, food, music, tiki torches, kids, bicyclists, frisbees, fire - it was your typical rockin' Gainesville keg party, entertainment provided by Hogtown's only glampunk band, ALLSTAR 69!!

ALLSTAR 69 played one helluva messy-assed gig at Eddie C's over the Thankgsgiving weekend - Nov. 28, 1998, to be exact. By the time we were ready to perform, MustangStar had already projectile vomited in front of the stage! There wasn't too much bass being played - or too much singing going on. Luckily, FreakNasty, Foxy & Chocolate Thunder managed to keep things together! Special thanks to Chocolate Thunder for putting up with some sloppy shit - especially at his main hang, Eddie C's Pub. Despite the snafus - people had fun, which is all that matters, anyways. Right?

ALLSTAR 69debuted their new drummer, Chocolate ThunderStar, at the Hardback Cafe' on November 21, 1998. George kicked ass & we rocked the house! Thanks go out to Matt & Drew from the Hardback as well as Gainesville's Queens of Sting, Reina Aveja, for asking us to play the the show with them. Talk about kickin' ass...

ALLSTAR 69 bid a fond farewell to Ancient Chinese Secret Star with 2 Halloween shows - at the Hardback Cafe' and the Covered Dish on October 30, 1998. All respects were paid to the departing matriarch of Gainesville drummers! She will be missed - and how!

ALLSTAR 69 rocked the house up at
Will's Pub & Tavern - 1850 N. Mills Ave - in Orlando
on Saturday, October 10.
Thanks to the solid prep rockers, The Hamiltons for their purebred hospitality!

We broke out the Doc Martins and gelled up the mohawks!!
ALLSTAR 69 played on Saturday, Sept. 26 at our favorite club - The DownLo
(15 N. Main Street) - where we put the glam in a night of pure old school punk, gracing the stage with local celebs, Sick Dick & the Volkswagons. No thanks to the Drug Czars from Miami who cancelled out of the show.

We had ourselves another Whiskey Rock-n-Roll Par-tay on Saturday, September 19 up in that piece known as the Covered Dish - when Gainesville's only glampunk band, ALLSTAR 69, teamed back up with their kissin' cousins...the sultans of pimp rock... Tallahassee's sexiest band... the one and only Syrup!
A Ramones tribute band, Cabrones played way into the wee hours, firing out the Ramones songs till we couldn't pogo no mo'!
Hey, Ho - We Did This!

DOUBLED YOUR PLEASURE

Saturday August 22
ALLSTAR 69 and Crashpad rocked the DownLo with Special Guests hailing all the way from New Jersey...Second Hand! Punk Rawk the way it was meant to be!
Just when you thought it was safe to return...Saturday, August 29 - again, at the DownLo - ALLSTAR 69 burned it up along with the eclectic rock of PoP CaNoN.

DOUBLED YOUR FUN!

ALLSTAR 69 played yet another successful DownLo gig on Saturday, July 18 with Carnival and Lurch. Thanks go out to all the bands involved as well as Noi & Ted at the club.

ALLSTAR 69 played at "Summerfest '98" across from Haile Plantation on Saturday, June 27 with Summation and Gainesville's "Queens of Sting" - Reina Aveja!

ALLSTAR 69 had theyselves a 'sexy swimin' hole, whiskey rock-n-roll pawdy' when they rocked the Sabine's Summer Picnic on June 20, 1998 at Blue Springs in High Springs, Florida!! We was WILD!!
Hey! New surprise pictures of the Springs Gig !

ALLSTAR 69 played a rip-roaring set at the DownLo on Saturday, June 13 with local skatilites, The Usuals. The show was a unique blend of styles which worked well together. Much thanks to Noi from the DownLo for setting up the show!

ALLSTAR 69 played a short set at Doc Garret's Sunday Jam Night at Eddie C's on May 31, 1998. We met some new bands - Deep & Summation - and blew Paco off the stage!!

ALLSTAR 69 made their Cowhaus debut on May 14, 1998. We got the night swingin' with a raucous set - and Syrup followed it up with their sweet brand o' rock-n-roll! Gainesville's own Gritkisser ended the night with a sloshin' surfabilly tour de force!

ALLSTAR 69 joined forces with their northern neighbors, Syrup, at Slim Bullfrawg's Birthday Jamboree and Freedom Parade in Tallahassee on Saturday, April 25. We put a road trippin' convoy together and put the pedal to the metal - and had ourselves a ROCK-n-ROLL PAW-DY!!

ALLSTAR 69 got a last-minute invite to play with their kissin' cousins from Tallahassee, Syrup - after the Jacksonville-based band, Rein Sanction cancelled what was touted as their CD-Release show on April 4, 1998 at the Covered Dish. Along with fellow Gainesvillians, Mower, the house was, indeed, ROCKED!! Despite a series of technical snafus that might have diminished a lesser man - ALLSTAR 69's lead guitarist, FreakNastyStar, was positively freaky & nasty as he shred the stage as the "Pigboy"! See live animal acts!! See the Pigboy live onstage!!

ALLSTAR 69 shook the soul of Gainesville's Emocore Emporium - the Hardback Cafe' - on Saturday, March 21, 1998. This show was organized as part of "97X Appreciation Night" - to help publicize the recent sale of this local radio station and it's probable changeover to a Top 40 format. It was also going to mark the return of local punksters, Crashpad, but, due to illness, they were unable to make the show. Every Single Day opened, followed with a rip-roaring set by Gainesville's glitziest glampunks, ALLSTAR 69! With the help of the their ultra-talented light technician, Julie (aka "Trippin' the Light Fantastic Star"), ALLSTAR 69 bedazzled the crowd with a fog-induced, kaleidoscopic menagerie of sights and ROCK that kicked ass!!! Popular opinion holds this show as our best yet!

ALLSTAR 69 made their Covered Dish debut with their new, rippin' lead guitarist, Mike "I-used-to-have-the-'ZZTOP'-thing-going-but-I-shaved-the-hillbilly-beard and-left-a-goat-tuft" Hetrick on February 12, 1998.

ALLSTAR 69 & Claude Pepper Blues Explosion played an impromptu set on Jan. 29, 1998 at Munegins Jam Night! We woke up the Munegins' regulars with a blistering 3-song set that introduced our new lead guitarist, Mike "GRINCH" Hetrick to the crowd. With Mike on board providing the wicked, crunching metallic leads, ALLSTAR 69 is sure to continue to spread their infectious glitter-ladden hot rock throughout the land!

ALLSTAR 69 played at the DownLo on Nov. 22, 1997 with Syrup (from Tallahassee) & Shitkicker Deluxe (from Atlanta) featuring Gainesville's Eddie Ray Chulo, the King!
Despite an untimely accident rendering Deb unable to play rhythm guitar due to a broken arm (but quite capable on tamborine!), the show went on. Unbeknownst to us, this was our last gig with Russ & Tom.

RIP

Rest in peace to our dearly departed permanent "guest" singer and public offender, Tom Nordlie and our full-on ragin' guitarist extraordinaire, Russell "the Professor" Johnson. Gone, but not forgotten - from their ashes, WE SHALL ROCK!!
